"Whalers Cabin" By Helen Barker. Helen was a primarily a self-taught artist and specialized in oil, acrylic, and watercolor renditions of the Monterey Peninsula landscape, and floral still life. She was a member of the Carmel Art Association from 1958 until she passed away in 1998. Helen also was a member of the Society of Western Artists, the Scandinavian American Art Society in Los Angeles, and the Artists Guild of America in Carmel. Her works have been exhibited at the De Young Museum in San Francisco, the Rosicrucian Gallery in San Jose, the Richmond Art Center, the Santa Cruz Art League, the Artists Guild of America, Museum of Natural History in Pacific Grove, the Los Angeles City Hall Tower, The Ebell Salon of Art, the Bowers Museum, and the Biltmore Gallery in Los Angeles.
